Treating Symptoms

Decrease body temperature while waiting for EMS
- If the person is unresponsive or vomiting do not give the person anything to drink
- Remove person from over excessive heat – remove person from sun and bring to shade or air conditioned room
- Help cool person faster by fanning, spraying, and applying cold clothes or ice packs to armpits, neck and groin.

Continue symptom treatment
- If vomiting turn person on his/her side to keep airway open
- If having seizures maintain safety and avoidance from injury
Call 911
- Disorientation
- Reduced sweating
- Rapid pulse
- Seizures
- Temperature above 103 F
- Unconsciousness
- Warm, red, and dry skin
