Treating Symptoms

  • Have the person stay still – laying down or sitting still
  • If the person has lightheadedness the person should rise slowly when standing
  • Rehydrate if needed
  • Avoid bright lights
  • Avoid moving rapidly

Call a Doctor

  • The person has never been dizzy before
  • Such dizziness lasts longer than a few moments or is different than before

Call 911

  • Chest pain
  • Rapid, irregular, or very slow heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Double vision
  • Convulsions or vomiting
  • Fever and a stiff neck
  • Unable to move arm or leg
  • Slurred speech
  • Numbness and/or tingling
  • Change in vision or speech
