Treating Symptoms

Try to control Nausea and Vomiting
- Sip liquids to try and avoid vomiting
- Avoid solids – eat bland foods: crackers, bread or rice (eat lightly)
- Avoid fried, greasy, spicy and sweet food
- Consult doctor before taking medication for nausea or diarrhea – some medications may worsen symptoms

Dehydration prevention
- Drink oral solution for dehydration if it lasts more than 24 hours
- Take small sips of fluids and gradually increase until consuming normal dosage
Call Doctor
If symptoms last more than 3 days
- Severe stomach/belly pain
- Dark stools or bloody diarrhea
- Prolonged vomiting and/or bloody
- Fever
- Dehydration, dizziness, decreased urination, fatigue or increased heart or breathing rate
Call 911
- Food poisoning may be from mushrooms or seafood
- Severely dehydrated
