Treating Symptoms
Follow these steps for cuts

Stop bleeding
- Apply pressure directly on the cut

Clean and Protect
- With warm water and soap clean the affected area gently
- To reduce the likelihood of infection apply an antibiotic—unless antibiotic causes rash
- Place a sterile bandage over the affected area
Call a Doctor
- If unable to clean cut or laceration
- If the punctured wound is deep and person has not had a tetanus shot or booster in the last 10 years
- If the cut is from a human or animal
- If cut is over a joint and deep
Call 911
- Cut is severely bleeding
- After firm and steady pressure person is still bleeding after 10 minutes
- Spurting blood
